Recent News about the Sept 24 Events

Friends,

It is with deep sadness that I pass on this information to you.
Terry Gannon emailed me today, to tell me that her grandson, Private Christopher Alcozer, was killed near Mosul, Iraq, Saturday Nov. 19th.  Chris was 21 years old.  Terry and her daughter Kathy Alcozer rode with us on the Elmhurst Bus to DC on Sept. 24th to call for the troops to be brought home.  This is not how they wanted Chris to come home.  They are heart broken, devastated.  Terry will let us know of plans for Chris's funeral over the next few days.  Please keep Terry, her daughter Kathy and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers as they struggle with this tragedy.

Terry wrote "bring them home before anyone else goes through what we are going through".  Of three mothers of soldiers who rode with us on the bus to DC, one has lost her son, and another's son is seriously wounded.  Katy Scott's son Jason, lost his arm, is partially blind, and continues to struggle with shrapnel infections, memory loss and a rough road to limited recovery a month after his injury from a roadside bomb in Iraq.  As Rep. John Murtha said in Congress last week "Our military has done everything that has been asked of them, the U.S. can not accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. It is time to bring them home."

It is time to intensify our peacemaking efforts.
Let us all continue to work tirelessly to fulfill Terry's request, so that no more families will share in the grief they now struggle with.
Let us honor Christopher and Jason, and their fellow soldiers by working night and day, to bring the troops home NOW!

In sadness and determined commitment to bring them home,
-Dave Martin
